Can’t commit to a multi-week workshop, but have a Sunday to spare? We are running single session events throughout the summer. We need 4 participants to get the workshop happens, but have to cap participation at 8 students due to space constraints. Make sure to let us know as soon as possible if you plan to attend one of the following events; if there’s enough interest, we’ll certainly see about trying to run the workshop again.

Stay for both classes for $50
Intro to Chart Reading - June 24
Written instructions are great for a number of pattern types, but when you get into complicated lace or cable patterns, following row by row written instructions can be complicated. But making the leap into chart reading can be intimidating! Bonnie will teach us how to read and use charts to our advantage. Cost is $50; no materials required.
Intro to Charts: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. $50
Intro to Lace Knitting July 8
As the weather warms up, the knitter’s eye naturally turns towards more open patterns. Lace is the perfect way to display our hardwon knitting skills in summer without worrying about heat stroke - but starting can be terrifying. Nassira is here to guide you through the beginnings of lace knitting, showing you how to approach it just one row at a time.
Intro to Lace: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. $50
Block Party July 8
Lace knitting looks incredibly beautiful - eventually. There’s a stage between knitting and gorgeous that looks a little like a bowl of ramen. Some knitters even refer to this stage as “yarn barf.” All knitted and crocheted items benefit from at least a little blocking, but with lace, knowing how to block - and properly - is the key to creating an item that will make people admire you from a distance and wish they were your friend (Okay, I can’t actually promise that one. But I will wish to be your friend). Nassira teaches the different types of blocking and helps you understand which ones will help your project look exactly right.
Block Party: 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. $40 + $5 materials fee. Please bring a swatch no larger than 6" x 6" to block.
Fixing Mistakes July 22
Mistakes: we all make them. How many times have you looked at your knitting and said “what did I DO?” Do you put your projects in time-out because you don’t know how to fix them? Nassira’s here to teach you how to “read” your knitting to understand what went wrong, how to make sure it doesn’t happen again, and most importantly, how to fix it as efficiently as possible.
Fixing Mistakes: 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. $40 + $5 materials fee
Photographing Finished Objects July 22
Your handmade garment is finished, ends sewn in, blocked beautifully, and now you'd like to photograph it. Whether your goal is project records, posterity, blogging/social media, or Ravelry glory, we’ll show you how to use the camera you have available to its very best advantage. Mira Whiting will show you how to use the camera available to you (and your phone probably has a better camera than you think) to take the best picture possible.
Please bring a finished object to photograph.
Photography: 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. $40
Crochet and More July 29
In this pair of crochet workshops, Laurel will teach you how to make dish pinchers and fabric yo-yos in the morning, and a yo-yo granny square in the afternoon.
Dish Pinchers 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. $50
Yo-yo Granny Square 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. $60
Take both workshops for $95
Knitting with Beads August 5
Make your knitting sparkle! Narissa will teach you the two most common techniques for adding beads to your knitted projects and giving them a little extra bling. This workshop requires basic lace-knitting knowledge (how to work yarnovers and decreases). Knowing how to read charts is helpful, but not necessary. If you’re interested in this class but don’t have prior lace experience, consider taking the Chart Reading and Lace Knitting workshops earlier in the summer.
Knitting with Beads: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. $50 + $5 materials fee
Short Row Heel August 19
Whether you've already got a library of sock heels or are learning your first one, this short row heel is great for being able to reknit a worn-out heel, or for adding contrast. Bonnie will teach the Short Row Heel workshop on Sunday, August 19.
Short Row Heel: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. $50
Please bring either a sock in progress or a knitted tube at least an inch long, still on needles.
