Wave Hat
![]() The Wave hat has ear flaps to keep you toasty warm. Materials and GaugeSize: Adult Materials: Main Color (MC): 1 skein Cascade 220 (220yds/100g), natural white (w on chart) Contrast Color 1 (CC 1): 1 skein Cascade Cloud 9 (109yds/50g), dark blue (B on chart) Contrast Color 2 (CC 2): 1 skein Cascade Cloud 9 (109yds/50g), aqua (a on chart) Needles: US #5 16” circular, US #7 16” circular, US #6 set of 4 dpns Gauge: 6 sts/inch using #7 needles in Wave Pattern. Be sure to do your gauge in the round. ![]() InstructionsUsing #5 circulars and MC, CO 120 sts. Place a marker and join into the round, making sure not to twist. Knit for 2 1⁄2 “. Purl one round (this is where the hem folds under). /p> Knit two more rounds. Change to #7 needles and begin Wave Pattern (see chart). Work rows 1-15 once and then rows 1-13 again. Knit one row in MC. Begin decreasing as follows, changing to double points when necessary:
Break the yarn and draw the end through the remaining stitches. Fold up the hem and sew it. Ear Flaps
Break the yarn and pass it through the remaining stitch. Repeat on the other side. Finishing Sew in all ends. Ties Cut four 24” strands of each color. Separate them into two bundles containing two of each color. Thread the first bundle through the point of one earflap. Separate the colors into three sets and braid them. Tie off the end and trim. Repeat for the other earflap. Pompom Take an end of each color and wrap it around three or four fingers of your hand until you have a fair sized ball. Tie an 18” piece of yarn around the ball and pull it very tight. Cut the sides of the ball and trim it so that it is round. Be careful not to cut the tie. Thread the two ends of the tie through the top of the hat and tie a square knot on the inside. Sew in the ends and block.
