Spiral Rib Hat

Spiral-Rib Hat: front view Spiral-Rib Hat: side view Spiral-Rib Hat: top view

Materials

Yarn: 1 Skein Coliumo by Arucania, 100g, 98yds.

Needles: US #11 16” circular and US #11 double points.

Gauge

14 sts/ 4”

Pattern Notes:

  • I used every bit of the 98 yards making this hat. If you want it to fold up or you are substituting a yarn with slightly less yardage, you’ll need a second skein.
  • If you would like to use the spiral rib pattern in another gauge, you can increase or decrease the number of stitches by multiples of 12. You may have to punt a little on the crown, though.
  • In the crown decrease section, you decrease in only the odd-numbered rounds, working the even-numbered rounds without decreasing except for Round 8, which has one decrease at the beginning of the round. It’s just how the pattern shook out.

Spiral Rib Pattern

(This pattern is worked over a multiple of 3, plus 2.)

Round 1: *K3, P3*, repeat the section between the stars around until 5 sts remain, K3, P2.

Round 2: P1, * K3, P3*, repeat until 4 sts remain, K3, P1.

Round 3: P2, * K3, P3*, repeat until 3 sts remain, K3.

Round 4: P3, * K3, P3*, repeat until 2 sts remain, K2.

Round 5: K1, P3, *K3, P3*, repeat around until 1 st remains, K1.

Round 6: K2, P3, * K3, P3*, repeat until the end of the round.
