Baby Alpaca Chunky Hat

Materials

1 Skein Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky, 100g/109yds
Gauge: 3 sts/ 1" in ribbing, slightly stretched.
Needles: size 10-16" circular, set of size 10 dpns.

Instructions

Cast on 60 sts.

Work in K2, P2 rib until hat measures 10.5".

Decrease for the crown as follows. Change to double points as needed:

Row 1: *K2, P2, K2, P2tog*, repeat until 4sts rem, K2, P2
Row 2: *K2, P2, K2, P1*, repeat until 4sts rem, K2 P2
Row 3: *K2, P2tog, K2, P1*, until 4sts rem, K2 Ptog
Row 4: * K2, P1, K2, P1*, until 3sts rem, K2 P1
Row 5: * K2tog, P1, K2tog, P1*, until 3sts rem, K2tog P1
Row 6: * SSK* around.
Row 7: *SSK* until 1 st remains, K1

Break the yarn and slip it through the remaining stitches. Sew in
ends.

Optional pompom: I made the pompom by wrapping the remaining yarn around four fingers until it was almost gone, tying it tightly across the center and trimming it into a ball.
