Annie ’s ShawlMany of you have seen the shawl Annie often wears in the shop and a lot of you have asked for the pattern. This is a great little shawl pattern that Annie and Regina came up with. They have graciously given their permission for me to publish it as a free pattern! Materials and gauge: This pattern can be used with any yarn, at any gauge. It can be as small as a kerchief, or as large as a full-sized wrap. You can get a small shawl out of about 400 yards of lace-weight or sock yarn using US #3 needles. Use 800 yards for a medium shawl and 1,200 yards for a very large shawl. Yardage changes with the size of yarn you choose, but you can just bind this shawl off whenever it gets to be big enough. Pattern Cast on 3 sts. Purl 1 row. Row 1: Slip 1, M1, K1, M1, K1. Row 2 and all even rows: Sl 1 and purl to end of row. Row 3: Sl1, M1, K1, YO, K3. Row 5: Sl1, K2, YO, K1, YO, K3. Bind off loosely, using a larger needle if necessary. You can do any kind of edging you want. Annie has done a few rows of garter stitch before binding off, or even a picot edge (YO, K2tog across, knit next row, BO) or you can just bind off. Whatever you do, have fun! Remember that lace tends to block out much larger. 100% merino will block out to almost double.
